Johns Creek's two high schools posted ACT composites well above state and national averages in the most recent testing cycle, with Northview High School at 26.9 and Johns Creek High School at 25.6.

Both scores clear the Georgia state average of 21.4 and the national average of 19.4 by four to seven points, according to Johns Creek Magazine. The results land as families settle into the 2026-27 school year with expanded options for earning college credit before graduation.

The ACT results arrive alongside a district milestone. Fulton County Schools posted a 91.9% on-time graduation rate for the 2024-25 school year, the fifth consecutive record and the highest in district history. Chief academic officer Brannon Gaskins put the gain in perspective at the district's 2025 State of the Schools address in October 2025, noting the rate stood at just 71.3% in 2012.

"To put this accomplishment in perspective, in 2012 fewer than eight in 10 Fulton County students graduated on time," Gaskins said at that event.

On the SAT, Northview ranked No. 3 in Georgia with a mean score of 1268 on the 2024 exam, while Johns Creek High placed No. 8 at 1218, according to a Fulton County Schools press release. The district had four schools in the state's top 10, more than any other system in Georgia.

Dual enrollment expands options

Beyond test scores, the district has widened the path to college credit before graduation. Zone superintendent Brian Downey, who oversees Johns Creek-area schools, said expanded dual enrollment partnerships now let students leave high school with a year or more of college credit already banked.

"We have so many kids that graduate … with a year's worth of college credit, so they can go off to college and they're paying 25% less than they otherwise would have been," Downey told Johns Creek Magazine.

Northview students can dual-enroll at Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Auburn University, Georgia Gwinnett College, Gwinnett Technical College, Lanier Technical College and the University of North Georgia, according to the school's counseling page. Applications go through GAFutures.org; the spring 2027 semester deadline is Nov. 1, 2026.

Johns Creek High, meanwhile, offers 22 AP courses and career-tech pathways in computer science, engineering, healthcare science and entrepreneurship, giving students multiple routes to college-level work without leaving campus.

New enrollment pathways

As we reported Aug. 10, Northview is one of four pilot campuses in the district's "Find Your Future at Fulton" program, which accepts out-of-district students for roughly $11,000 per year. The school was chosen because it sits near the Gwinnett and Forsyth county lines.

Within the district, Fulton's COSA transfer program lets any resident apply to attend a different school. The application window opens in December and closes in January, with decisions announced by late January.

Northview's 3DE program, a Junior Achievement partnership where students solve real business problems for Home Depot, Delta Air Lines and Jackson Healthcare, boasts a 100% graduation rate for students who complete the track. That compares to Northview's overall rate of roughly 97-98%.
