The baseball field at Chattahoochee High School has been named the 2026 Turface Region 3 Field of the Year by the National High School Baseball Coaches Association (NHSBCA).
The Fulton County Board of Education recognized the achievement at its Tuesday, Oct. 13, work session at the North Learning Center, according to the district's board bulletin. The board each month honors students, staff and schools that place first at the regional or state level or finish among the top nationally.
The NHSBCA splits the country into regions for its annual field award, which recognizes groundskeepers and field crews for maintaining top-quality playing surfaces. Past Region 3 winners have come from schools in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina, according to the NHSBCA's award archive. The award will be presented at the NHSBCA Convention and Awards Banquet, scheduled for Dec. 3-6 in New Orleans, according to the organization's announcement.
Georgia programs have claimed the Region 3 honor repeatedly. Carrollton High School's Trent Bianco won in 2023 and Lassiter High School's Kyle Rustay in Marietta took it in 2022. Parkview High School's Chan Brown won in 2020 and Starrs Mill High School's Brent Mosley earned it in 2019.
Chattahoochee is the first Fulton County Schools program to appear on the NHSBCA archive's list of Region 3 winners since the award's earliest posted records.
The Cougars compete in GHSA Class 5A Region 7. Chattahoochee went 9-19 overall and 4-14 in region play during the 2025-26 season, according to MaxPreps. The 2026-27 season opens Feb. 19, 2027, at home against Johns Creek, with region games against St. Pius X Catholic, Blessed Trinity, Cambridge and Centennial scheduled through late April.
