Uma Pittman struck out eight batters over seven innings, then drove in the winning run herself as the Johns Creek Lady Gladiators beat the Centennial Knights 3-2 in a walk-off Monday, Aug. 3, at Johns Creek High School.

The sophomore pitcher allowed just six hits and one earned run in a complete-game effort. When her team needed offense in the bottom of the seventh, she delivered a single into left-center field that scored Zelda Arthur and emptied the home dugout.

Johns Creek trailed 2-1 entering the sixth inning. Reese Stiltner came through with an RBI hit that knotted the score at 2-2, keeping the Lady Gladiators alive and setting up the late-inning heroics.

Arthur led off the seventh with a single to left field and moved into scoring position on a passed ball. Pittman followed with the line drive that ended it. As Arthur crossed home plate, the Lady Gladiators rushed onto the infield in celebration.

Arthur finished 2-for-3 at the plate.

"I'm so proud of the battle the girls showed throughout the evening," head coach James Ernst said after the game, according to Johns Creek Athletics. "Even though the bats were slow to come around, we hung in there and delivered in the clutch."

The victory is one of Johns Creek's first results of the 2026 fall softball season. The Lady Gladiators compete in GHSA Class AAAAA and finished last season 12-17. Centennial went 9-20 in Class AAAA a year ago.

The Johns Creek Athletics schedule does not yet list the Lady Gladiators' next softball game.
