Northview High School is one of only three high schools in Georgia to earn national magnet certification from Magnet Schools of America (MSA), a 40-year-old national nonprofit, Fulton County Schools announced Sept. 28.

Banneker High School in College Park and Tri-Cities High School in East Point also received the 2026 designation. The three are the only high schools in the state listed as National Certified Magnet Schools by MSA this year.

The certification recognizes each school's Junior Achievement Magnet Business Academy, known as the 3DE program. In the program, business partners bring workplace challenges into classrooms every five to six weeks. Students develop and present solutions in areas like technology management, branding and customer relations.

At Northview, corporate partners including Home Depot, Delta Airlines and Jackson Healthcare work directly with students on those problems, according to Johns Creek Magazine.

Northview Principal Martin Neuhaus credited his teaching team in the district's announcement.

"Our 3DE teacher team has transformed our program over the last few years, providing our students with an exceptional experience that makes learning relevant and ensures they are prepared for life beyond Northview," Neuhaus said.

More than 95% of students who opt into Northview's 3DE program stay enrolled, Neuhaus said. Johns Creek Magazine reported in August that the program's participants had a 100% graduation rate, compared with Northview's overall rate of 97–98%.

Banneker launched the 3DE model in fall 2015 as Fulton County Schools' first such program. Northview and Tri-Cities adopted it later. The Fulton County Board of Education recognized Banneker and Tri-Cities for the certification at its Sept. 18 meeting.

To earn MSA certification, each school had to meet 10 standards covering diversity and equity, leadership development and community partnerships. Schools submitted documented evidence and participated in monthly virtual monitoring sessions with MSA over the yearlong process.

Neither Johns Creek High School nor Chattahoochee High School was among the three schools certified. Both are Fulton County schools but were not part of this round of MSA recognition.

The Fulton County Board of Education meets Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the FCS North Learning Center, 450 Northridge Pkwy. in Sandy Springs.
