Siya Muddasani stood on stage in a black dress, gripping a microphone with both hands, and sang.

For her father, Vijay Muddasani, that moment at a Music Studio Atlanta open mic night was about more than music. "Singing in front of an audience has made Siya so much more poised and confident in all aspects of her life," the Johns Creek resident told The Creek magazine on Tuesday, July 21.

The Muddasani family is among the first students at The Music Studio Atlanta's Johns Creek location, which opened in January 2026 at 10945 State Bridge Road, Suite 402. It is the third metro Atlanta studio for TMSA, an organization founded in 1999 that also operates locations in Vinings and East Cobb.

The Johns Creek studio offers private and group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drums, strings and woodwinds for ages 6 and up, Monday through Saturday. A Music FunTime program serves toddlers ages 2½ to 6. The school employs roughly 100 instructors across its three locations and serves about 1,500 students total, according to CEO and founder Cecilia Rowe.

Performance is built into the program. Students can participate in low-pressure open mic nights, semi-formal bi-annual recitals and, for advanced students, destination performances at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In June 2026, the school held Hawaiian-themed Summer Recitals over two weekends at the Historic Pace House in Vinings, with hundreds of students from all three locations performing.

Rowe, who left a corporate career to co-found an in-home music academy with her mother, said the Johns Creek expansion has gone well since January. The studio was named the 2024 National Music School of the Year by Music Academy Success, an international trade organization for music academy owners.
