Johns Creek's $560 million Medley development opens to the public Thursday, Oct. 29, with a free ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. in The Plaza.
But the celebration starts the night before. Toro Development Company announced a three-day opening schedule that includes a ticketed benefit, the public opening and a Halloween party, followed by holiday programming stretching into late November.
The preview evening, billed as Medley Unveiled, runs Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 10 p.m. The ticketed event benefits the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra (JCSO), which is celebrating its 20th anniversary season. Guests get restaurant tastings, cocktails, beer, wine and nonalcoholic drinks. A string quartet, DJ, dueling pianos and a live violinist at the Tree Bar provide the entertainment. Complimentary valet parking is included. Tickets are available through Eventbrite; pricing was not listed in the announcement.
The Oct. 29 ribbon cutting is free and open to the public. Twenty-eight retailers and restaurants plan to open that day, according to WhatNow Atlanta.
The dining lineup includes Rena's Italian Fishery & Grill, Shake Shack, 26 Thai Kitchen, STIR, Tonic House, Lily Sushi Bar and CRÚ Wine Bar & Bistro. Shops opening include Sephora, High Country Outfitters, BODYROK, Drybar and Petfolk. Trader Joe's is already open.
Several tenants will arrive later, including Fadó Irish Pub, CT Taqueria, Warby Parker, Northern China Eatery and Tabla. Individual opening dates for those businesses have not been announced.
Friday, Oct. 30, closes the three-day run with Party on The Plaza, a free, family-friendly Halloween evening from 6 to 10 p.m. featuring live music and activities. Costumes are encouraged.
"From day one, we designed Medley for the people of Johns Creek," Mark Toro, founder and chief vision officer of Toro Development Company, said when announcing the schedule Tuesday, Sept. 29.
Toro previously led the development of Avalon in Alpharetta and Atlantic Station in Atlanta. The 43-acre Medley project, at 2140 Medley Boulevard, is part of Johns Creek's 192-acre Town Center plan. It combines 145,000 square feet of retail space with 340 apartments, 133 luxury townhomes, 112,000 square feet of office space and a 25,000-square-foot plaza.
A second phase called Encore is planned to add 408 apartments, more retail and a 150-room Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel anchored by Chops Lobster Bar.
Programming continues after the grand opening. An outdoor ice rink opens in The Plaza on Nov. 23. Merry Medley follows Nov. 27 with a holiday concert, performances and fireworks. Toro Development plans roughly 100 community events at Medley each year.
