Senior Services North Fulton secured a share of more than $5.3 million in Fulton County funding for its free transportation program that serves Johns Creek residents age 60 and older.

The Johns Creek-based nonprofit announced Monday, Aug. 24, that it was named a 2026 Fulton County Community Services Program award recipient for its Transportation Options Program for Seniors, known as TOPS. The competitive annual program distributes county dollars to nonprofits across Fulton County, with $5,363,958 awarded countywide this year.

The organization did not disclose how much of that total it will receive.

What TOPS provides

TOPS gives older adults in North Fulton free rides to medical appointments and what the nonprofit calls "quality of life trips" anywhere around town. The program provided more than 2,300 trips in its most recent reporting year, according to a post by Stephen Walker on the organization's website.

Eligible riders must be 60 or older and live in the service area, which covers Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs. Rides are wheelchair accessible, and escorts inside a doctor's office are available on request.

There is no charge. A voluntary contribution of $10 one way or $20 round trip is suggested.

A repeat recognition

This is not the first time TOPS has earned the county award. Senior Services North Fulton received the same recognition in 2023 and 2025. The countywide funding pool was $6.8 million in 2023 before dropping to $5,363,958 in both 2025 and 2026.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners funds the program through the Department of Community Services. It covers categories including senior services, health and wellness, homelessness and economic stability.

How to book a ride

Senior Services North Fulton, supported by more than 400 volunteers, also delivered over 59,000 Meals on Wheels in its most recent reporting year. The nonprofit operates from offices in Johns Creek and Alpharetta.

Rides must start from the client's home in North Fulton and can be scheduled up to one month in advance but no later than 72 hours before the requested date. Residents can call the TOPS program at 470-760-3299.
