Johns Creek residents can hear a Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta economist break down the economy at a free half-day summit on Thursday, Sept. 24.
The Rotary Club of Johns Creek, Johns Creek Baptist Church and the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce are co-hosting the first Johns Creek Financial Wellness Summit. The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Johns Creek Baptist Church, 6910 McGinnis Ferry Road. Doors open at 8 a.m. for coffee and networking, with the program starting at 8:30 a.m.
The centerpiece is a live interview with an economist from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Donna Lowry will moderate the conversation. Lowry hosts GPB's "Lawmakers" and won seven Emmy Awards during nearly 30 years at WXIA-TV in Atlanta.
Expert panels will follow, covering retirement readiness, wealth-building strategies, asset protection, financial fraud prevention and cybersecurity threats. The city's event listing describes the summit as aimed at giving business owners and future retirees "clear, unbiased guidance."
The event is free and open to the public. The Chamber said in a Facebook post that event sponsors are also funding a scholarship for a Student Leadership North graduate pursuing a finance degree. Sponsors include First American Bank & Trust, ClariVise Private Wealth, Paragon Bank and Cornerstone Financial Partners.
The City of Johns Creek and the Johns Creek Convention & Visitors Bureau are supporting the event as well.
