The Johns Creek Gladiators host Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at 1-1 after snapping a 27-game losing streak in their season opener.

Head coach Jason Tester's squad opened the year Aug. 21 with a 24-17 victory over Northview, according to GPB Sports. The ground game carried the night. Jake Blackwelder ran 21 times for 100 yards and a touchdown. Michael Hanley added 100 yards and a score on just eight carries. Dayo Nanye-John chipped in 65 yards and a touchdown on seven attempts.

The Gladiators piled up 274 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 39 carries in the win, according to a Johns Creek Athletics recap. On defense, Owen Crawford recorded six tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack. Brit Landry added seven tackles and two assists. Elijah Antoine forced a fumble, and Carson Cox recovered one.

Centennial handed Johns Creek a 54-18 loss Aug. 28.

Mountain View enters at 1-0, according to Gwinnett Daily Post region standings published Aug. 30. The Bears play in Class AAAAA Region 8, making Friday's matchup a non-region contest for both teams. No region games have been played yet across Class AAAAA.

Johns Creek sits in Region 7 alongside Lanier, Milton and Roswell, and all four teams enter the week at 1-1 overall with region play still ahead of them.

Across town, Northview remains winless at 0-2 in Class AAAAAA Region 6. The Titans travel to Berkmar this week.

After Mountain View, the Gladiators host Chattahoochee at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11, then welcome Milton on Sept. 25.
