Johns Creek firefighters brought a fire engine and full bunker gear to Ocee Elementary School on Wednesday, Sept. 30, giving young students a hands-on look at the job.

Crews from Station 64 visited kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade classrooms for the Fulton County school's annual Careers on Wheels Day, Appen Media first reported.

Outside the building, firefighters suited up in their full gear. That included breathing apparatuses, heavy coats, helmets, boots and gloves. They also let students get close to a fire engine.

The visit included safety lessons. Firefighters walked students through how to call 911 and how to stop, drop and roll if their clothes catch fire. They also explained why children should not be afraid of firefighters in full gear.

Firefighters were not the only professionals on campus. AMR Ambulance Service personnel, Fulton County Police Department officers, DEA agents and Willard Towing employees also participated, according to Appen Media.

Station 64 sits at 4795 Kimball Bridge Road in the Ocee area, one of four Johns Creek Fire Department stations staffed around the clock.
