Johns Creek residents have until Friday, Sept. 18, to take a survey that will shape road, transit and safety spending across North Fulton.

The North Fulton Comprehensive Transportation Plan (NFCTP) covers Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Roswell and Sandy Springs. Led by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), the effort asks residents where they encounter problems, how they travel and which improvements should receive priority, the North Atlanta Star reported.

The survey does not approve individual projects. Its findings will influence which proposals the five cities develop and position for local, state and federal funding.

The planning process covers roads, intersections, transit, sidewalks, bicycle connections and safety improvements, according to Appen Media. The eventual project list could also influence how the cities compete for state and federal transportation dollars.

TSPLOST adds local dollars to the picture

The stakes are concrete. Fulton County commissioners and North Fulton city leaders signed an intergovernmental agreement Aug. 3 to place a renewal of the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) on the Nov. 3 ballot, according to Fulton County. If voters approve the penny sales tax, it would generate roughly $650 million countywide from 2027 to 2032. Johns Creek's share: $86.4 million.

The NFCTP and the TSPLOST renewal are parallel processes, not a single pipeline. But the plan's priority list could help determine how Johns Creek spends its allocation on roads, intersections, sidewalks and bicycle connections.

No Johns Creek official has commented publicly on the survey deadline. The city did promote the survey and an Aug. 19 open house at Preston Ridge Community Center in Alpharetta on its official social media account. That in-person session has passed, but the online survey remains open through Sept. 18.

How to participate

The survey asks how residents travel, where they run into problems and which improvements matter most. No follow-up date after the Sept. 18 deadline has been announced. Residents can find the survey at engagekh.mysocialpinpoint.com/NFCTP2027.
