Ignacio Suarez-Couri, a 17-year-old midfielder born and raised in Johns Creek, signed a Short-Term Agreement with Atlanta United on Thursday, July 16, making him eligible to suit up with the MLS first team for its match at Nashville SC on Saturday, July 18.

The deal marks the first time Suarez-Couri has been called up to Atlanta United's senior roster this season, according to the club's official announcement.

Suarez-Couri has been in the Atlanta United system since 2020, when he entered the club's academy at roughly 11 years old. He signed a professional contract with Atlanta United 2, the club's MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, in April 2025. He stands 5-foot-11 and holds dual U.S. and Venezuelan citizenship.

Since turning pro, Suarez-Couri has set multiple age-related records with Atlanta United 2. On Aug. 27, 2025, he scored his first professional goal in a 4-1 win over Inter Miami CF II, becoming the youngest player in club history to find the net at 16 years and 146 days old. In 2026, he has tallied one goal and four assists across 13 MLS NEXT Pro appearances, making him the youngest ATL UTD 2 player to reach five goal contributions in a season in the league's history.

Suarez-Couri also made his debut for the U.S. U-17 Men's National Team on Sunday, June 7.

Under MLS roster rules, a Short-Term Agreement allows a club to bring up a player age 25 or younger from its NEXT Pro affiliate for up to four days at a time, with a maximum of four such call-ups per season. A player on a short-term deal may appear on up to four MLS match rosters but can play in no more than two league matches.

Atlanta United entered the Nashville trip at 3-9-2, sitting 13th in the Eastern Conference. Nashville SC, at 10-1-3, leads the Western Conference. Whether Suarez-Couri sees minutes against Nashville remains to be seen; kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Saturday on Apple TV and FOX.
