Chattahoochee High School seniors paid $155 or more this summer to paint personalized parking spots near the Cougar pavilion, the first time the Johns Creek school has offered the program.

The $155 breaks down to a $95 parking pass plus a $60 painting fee. Paint and supplies cost extra. That price kept participation low. Only a handful of the Class of 2027 opted in, The Speculator, the school's student newspaper, reported Aug. 27.

Senior Nya Goss told The Speculator cost played a role in her decision to skip. "It wasn't the main reason why I didn't paint my parking spot," Goss said. "But I didn't want to pay an extra $60."

Students who did participate turned their spaces into personal statements. Senior Sarah Tanner chose a Gilmore Girls theme, calling the show her "comfort show." Gabriella Lucento painted Minions characters Kevin, Bob and Stuart with her name at the bottom. Other designs included Hello Kitty and Brat themes.

Before painting day, seniors submitted designs to school administration for approval. On July 31, Coach Hicks outlined spaces with PVC pipes and tape. Students arrived that morning with rollers for base coats and smaller brushes for details.

Senior Sam Rehberg hit a snag when a supervisor objected to spray paint. Rehberg was allowed to finish quickly and completed the entire spot in 45 minutes, Rehberg told The Speculator.

Nearby Northview High School has offered a similar painting tradition. Whether Chattahoochee's program returns next fall has not been announced.

The school has not released a calendar of fall senior events beyond the painting program. Chattahoochee High is located at 5230 Taylor Road in Johns Creek and enrolls about 1,730 students in grades 9–12 as part of Fulton County Schools.
