Johns Creek High School's Academic Bowl team finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 2 in the country, capping a four-year run in which the club has won every regular-season tournament it entered.

The team also placed seventh out of 72 qualifying teams at the 2026 PACE National Scholastic Championship, the premier national high school quiz bowl tournament. Two years earlier, Johns Creek placed fifth at the same event.

The school's feature story, published Monday, Aug. 24, describes a program that has taken first at roughly 30 regular-season tournaments over the past four-plus years. Over the past three seasons, the club has fielded three competitive teams, with two routinely advancing to playoff rounds at national championships each year.

The streak spans four years.

Quiz bowl is a buzzer-style academic sport in which team members specialize in subjects such as literature, history, science and mythology. Johns Creek, a Fulton County school with 1,789 students, competes against programs from across the country.

The achievement puts Johns Creek among elite company. Lexington High School of Massachusetts won the 2026 PACE NSC title, with Lake County Academic Team of Illinois finishing as runner-up, according to PACE's website.

The Johns Creek area has become a quiz bowl hotspot. Northview High School coach Scott Fowler told the Northview Messenger in October 2025 that his team's second-place national finish the previous season was "the highest finish of any Georgia team in history." Johns Creek's sustained No. 2 national ranking and repeated top-10 finishes at nationals show the area's programs continue to compete at the sport's highest level.

Beyond trophies, the program has helped members earn admission to Georgia Tech, Northwestern University and the University of Chicago, according to the school's feature story.

Johns Creek also sent a second squad to the 2026 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament, held May 22-24 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The next PACE National Scholastic Championship is scheduled for June 12-13, 2027, in Rosemont, Illinois.
