Johns Creek residents can pick up a free limited-edition library card celebrating the nation's 250th birthday at the Ocee Branch on Abbotts Bridge Road, no appointment needed.

The Fulton County Library System introduced the "America 250 Georgia Reads" card as part of a summer-long celebration marking the U.S. semiquincentennial. The collectible card is available at all Fulton County branches, including the Ocee / Dr. Robert E. Fulton Library at 5090 Abbotts Bridge Road, through the end of 2026 while supplies last, according to the library system's announcement published Wednesday, Aug. 5.

Anyone with a library account can request the limited-edition card at the front desk. New cardholders can sign up on the spot.

The card caps a summer of America 250 programming across Fulton County's branches. The library system said on its Facebook page that July programs included historical reenactments, storytimes, arts and crafts, lectures and recommended reading lists tied to U.S. history. Libraries across the country participated in the initiative to mark the nation's 250th anniversary through community programming.

The Georgia Reads program is a statewide reading initiative, with participating libraries across Georgia offering the commemorative card alongside a recommended book list.

The Ocee Branch is the city's primary public library, located just off State Bridge Road near Ocee Park. The branch is open until 6 p.m. on weekdays. Upcoming programming includes Intermediate Conversational Spanish on Thursday, Aug. 6, Line Dancing on Friday, Aug. 7, and additional group events on Saturday, Aug. 8.

How to get the card: Visit the Ocee Branch at 5090 Abbotts Bridge Road, Johns Creek, Ga. 30005, and ask at the front desk. The limited-edition America 250 Georgia Reads card is free and available while supplies last through the end of 2026.
