A husband-and-wife team from southern Italy is bringing Calabrian cuisine to Halcyon, the South Forsyth mixed-use development that regularly draws Johns Creek diners up Peachtree Parkway for weekend concerts and community events.
Osteria Bella will open in fall 2026 in the former Butcher & Brew space at Suite 410, 6690 Town Square, overlooking Halcyon's Village Green, the North Atlanta Star reported Thursday, Aug. 6.
Daniele and Bella Furfaro, the couple behind Marietta's Mezza Luna Italian Restaurant & Bar, are building the new concept around the food of Calabria, the southern Italian region known for bold seafood, preserved vegetables and the fiery peppers that carry its name. Both owners grew up there before moving to Georgia.
Daniele Furfaro trained at culinary school in Italy and apprenticed under a pastry chef before collaborating with Michelin-starred chefs, according to a March 2025 East Cobber profile. At Mezza Luna, he serves as executive chef and head pastry chef while Bella leads front-of-house operations.
"I cook the food I grew up with in Calabria, and I want people to feel as though our family has welcomed them into our home," Daniele Furfaro said in the announcement. "Osteria Bella gives us the opportunity to share that hospitality on a bigger stage."
The menu backs that up.
Planned dishes include squid-ink tagliatelle with mussels, shrimp, calamari and clams; paccheri pasta with slow-braised duck ragù; and branzino with lemon-butter sauce, capers and cherry tomatoes. Calabrian peppers, seasonal produce and house-made limoncello will feature prominently, with menus changing by season.
The Furfaros took full ownership of Mezza Luna in 2023 after joining as co-owners around 2020. They are renaming that Marietta location Trattoria Bella in August 2026, creating a shared brand identity between the neighborhood trattoria and the larger Halcyon restaurant. The restaurant's name is a tribute to Bella Furfaro.
Inside, the space is being designed around a glass storefront, warm lighting, porcelain tile and a wraparound quartz bar. Both indoor and outdoor seating will face the pedestrian activity around the Village Green.
An exact opening date has not been announced. The Furfaros plan seasonal menus and special dining events throughout the year once doors open.
