Johns Creek residents can unload old paint, used batteries, motor oil, and unwanted electronics at no cost on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, when the city and Keep North Fulton Beautiful host a drive-through Household Hazardous Waste collection at City Hall, 11360 Lakefield Drive, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Pre-registration is required, and the city has not yet announced when registration opens. Spots are first-come, first-served through the Zeffy platform, and the portal will close automatically once capacity is reached. No walk-ups or on-site sign-ups will be accepted. Residents can monitor johnscreekga.gov for updates.
Registration filled quickly last year. The 2025 event hit its cap nearly a month before collection day, according to the city's announcement.
What to bring
The city lists a wide range of accepted items: latex and oil-based paint (limited to 80 pounds per vehicle, roughly 8–10 gallons), varnish, paint thinner, motor oil and filters, antifreeze, pool chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, aerosol cans, fire extinguishers, and propane tanks up to 20 pounds. All battery types are accepted, including lithium-ion, lead-acid car batteries, and button cells.
Electronics are accepted free of charge: TVs, monitors, computers, laptops, tablets, phones, printers, game consoles, cables, chargers, and routers.
What stays home
Ammunition, firearms, explosives, medications, tires, asbestos, bulky appliances with freon, and propane tanks larger than 20 pounds are not accepted, according to the city. Residents needing to dispose of sharps or syringes should call Sharps Alliance at 800-232-1311. Keep North Fulton Beautiful accepts tires year-round for $7 per standard car tire.
How it works
The event is fully drive-through. Residents stay in their vehicles while professional vendors unload items. A traffic map will be emailed to registered participants before the event.
Only Johns Creek residents may participate; the city will verify addresses. Residents unsure whether they live within city limits can check at johnscreekga.gov/departments/gis-maps/confirm-address. Those uncertain whether a specific item qualifies can email [email protected] before Aug. 15.
Keep North Fulton Beautiful is seeking two to three volunteers to help direct traffic at the event. Volunteer registration is capped at three people, according to the organization's event page.
