Johns Creek will try to end a six-game losing streak when it visits Lanier High School in Sugar Hill on Friday, Oct. 23. Kickoff for the Region 7-AAAAAA matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Gladiators enter at 1-6 overall and 0-3 in region play. Their only victory came against Northview in the Aug. 22 season opener, according to MaxPreps.

Johns Creek has struggled to generate offense against its region opponents, losing 63-0 to Milton, 65-3 to Gainesville and 43-3 to Roswell. Across those three games, the Gladiators have scored six points and allowed 171.

Friday begins the final three-game stretch of their regular season. Johns Creek hosts Alpharetta on Oct. 30 before traveling to Riverwood on Nov. 6, according to Johns Creek Athletics.

First-year head coach Jason Tester is rebuilding a program that finished 0-10 in both 2024 and 2025 under Jim Rowell. The Northview win ended a victory drought dating to 2023, according to the program’s season history.

The school’s recap of the Milton game credited Michael Hanley with a team-high six tackles. Dayo Nonye John finished with five tackles and broke up a pass.

Lanier returns from a bye

Lanier enters Friday at 3-4 overall and 1-2 in region play. The Longhorns last played Riverwood, winning 56-0 in a game MaxPreps lists on Oct. 10.

That victory followed losses to Lambert, Roswell and Milton. Coach Tyler Maloof’s team now has an opportunity to even its region record against Johns Creek.

Among Lanier’s reported defensive leaders, senior defensive back Yusuf Haqq averages five tackles per game. Senior outside linebacker Aidan Balles has three sacks, while senior safety Jordan Alexander has two interceptions, according to MaxPreps.

After facing the Gladiators, Lanier will host Gainesville on Friday, Oct. 30.
