About 200 volunteers gathered at Cauley Creek Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, to plant roughly 22,000 daffodil bulbs during Johns Creek Beautification’s annual Dig Day.

Rain had delayed the event from Oct. 10. Volunteers returned a week later to help expand the park’s spring flower display, Appen Media reported.

The planting is part of Daffodils4Hope, which Johns Creek Beautification launched with CanCare in 2018 to support cancer survivors. Co-president Liliana Brenner told Appen that the effort now carries a broader message.

“We have changed it to hope for anyone who is going through a difficult time,” Brenner said.

Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne joined the volunteers. She told Appen that working alongside residents from different generations and backgrounds reinforced her commitment to serving the community.

The organization’s 2025 program recap lists 72,250 bulbs planted across 29 Johns Creek locations through last year. Adding the estimated 22,000 from this event would put the citywide total at roughly 94,000.

Last year’s Dig Day involved more than 100 volunteers and added 10,000 bulbs at several locations, including Cauley Creek Park.

A $10,000 contribution from the Atlanta Retailers Association and Platinum Business Alliance supported this year’s bulb purchase and planting. The donation was presented during the opening ceremony of a July 25 cricket tournament, according to Appen’s earlier report.

The new bulbs are expected to flower in spring 2027. Information about Daffodils4Hope and other volunteer opportunities is available through Johns Creek Beautification.
