Democrat Maggie Goldman is challenging Republican incumbent Bridget Thorne for Fulton County Commission District 1 in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The race concerns county services for north Fulton residents, including Johns Creek.
Goldman is a real estate agent and former chair of Fulton County’s Continuum of Care board, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Assessments and services
Her campaign platform calls for more transparent property assessments and assistance navigating appeals. She also supports coordinating county, nonprofit and faith-based resources to address homelessness and poverty.
Goldman advocates funding prosecutors and public defenders to address jail overcrowding and supports pre-indictment diversion when appropriate. She proposes modern water meters that track usage and identify leaks, along with reliable billing.
Elections and implementation
Goldman says election administration should be accessible, secure and protected from political interference. The platform reviewed does not provide a detailed budget, funding source or timetable for its infrastructure and service proposals.
County commissioners vote collectively on budgets and policy. One commissioner could advocate for these changes but could not enact them alone or independently decide individual property assessments or criminal cases. Potential effects include changes to county service delivery and spending; household savings are not quantified in the campaign materials.
The Johns Creek Bulletin did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
