What's on the ballot
Two local tax referenda will appear alongside statewide races. A 0.75% Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, known as TSPLOST, would run from April 1, 2027, through March 31, 2032. The Fulton County Board of Commissioners and 14 city governments, including Johns Creek, called the election at a special meeting on Aug. 3.
A separate 1% Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) would be reimposed beginning July 1, 2027, for up to 20 calendar quarters. The tax would raise up to approximately $2.095 billion countywide for school capital projects, according to the call for election document. Johns Creek High School is among the schools listed for capital improvements.
Absentee voting
Voters who prefer to vote by mail must submit an absentee ballot application by Friday, Oct. 23, Rough Draft Atlanta reported. Completed ballots must arrive by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. Postmarks do not count.
None of the seven designated absentee ballot drop boxes in Fulton County are in Johns Creek. The nearest drop box locations are the Alpharetta Library and the East Roswell Library.
If any Nov. 3 race requires a runoff, that election is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 1. Early voting begins Oct. 13 at 7 a.m.
